Take action! Girl Scouts in Holmes County, MS are in need of basic necessities after losing everything in Saturday's tornado. Take a look at the list and bring donated items to your local Service Center or give to your Membership Manager.

- Pants - 9/10, 14/16, 16/18; and one girl wears 32/34 (boys), also khaki school uniform pants.

GSUSA Weekend Run-Down

Today's Weekend Run-Down features stories ranging from Gold Awards to redecorated bedrooms:
In Tennessee, The Maryville Daily Times reports on two sets of sisters that were recently recognized by Girl Scouts for their service projects.
The Macon Telegraph, GA, has an awesome and inspiring story about a group of Girl Scouts who helped a peer - who is home bound by a chronic disease - redecorate her bedroom.
In Nebraska, The York News-Times reports that Girl Scouts learned about life on a farm! From making ice-cream to operating tractors - this sounds like a fun time.
Here is a run-down of five Oklahoma Girl Scouts who recently earned The Girl Scout Gold Award.

Justine Magazine Fashion Show - Models Needed
Join Justine Magazine as we welcome author Sarah Mlynowski (author of Gimme a Call and the hugely popular Magic in Manhattan series) to Memphis!
Meet her at Davis Kidd on Saturday, May 1st at 4 pm.
She will be talking about her novels and her writing experiences and tips for young writers.
Justine is also featuring the latest fashions for spring/summer in a fashion show sponsored by Sachi.
AND . . . Justine is wanting 5 lucky Girl Scouts to be the models for the event!

APRIL 24: WILDLIFE WEEKEND AND JUNIOR RANGER DAY AT THE NATCHEZ TRACE
Enjoy the beautiful weather and come out to the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center for this FREE family event in recognition of National Park Week and Junior Ranger Day! The Tombigbee Pioneer Group will be on site to perform living history demonstrations, which often include corn shuck doll making, basket weaving, beading, quill pen demonstrations and a longhunter's program involving early medicines. Leatherworking and mountain dulcimers demonstrations will also be available throughout the day.

APRIL 29: DRIVE-IN MOVIE - TUPELO, MS
This Drive-In Movie will kick off the 2010 Tupelo Blue Suede Cruise. A family-friendly movie will be shown. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Special parking for classic cars on the east side of the building. All other automobiles may park on the north and south sides of the building.

JULY 2010: THE ALLIANCE FOR A HEALTHIER GENERATION
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a partnership between the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation, is searching for a select group of young people to serve on our Youth Advisory Board (for 2010-2011) and roll up their sleeves for a few hours a month of critical thinking, engaging conversations, good fun, new friendships, and high-profile leadership.

Many fail to see aggressive behavior in their own children

Some common misconceptions may lull the parents of bullies into failing to recognize warning signs.
Bullies are often star athletes or popular girls considered charismatic leaders by peers and adults, experts say. What's often missed or passed over as minor is a consistent pattern of control and aggression against other kids — behavior that socially savvy bullies can sometimes slide under the radar of grown-ups.
"It's not what we typically think of. It's not always the kid who's pushing kids down on the playground," says Rosalind Wiseman, who wrote "Queen Bees and Wannabes," the basis for the movie "Mean Girls."
